Just a few days to go...
Every time I stop to collect my thoughts, its dark out. The hours of daylight are increasing, but my perception of them is fleeting. Maybe this means I'm busy. Maybe I shouldn't try to collect my thoughts; maybe better to just let them float away. On that note, peaceful warrior is being released in select cities next week. This just might be the best movie I've ever seen... or it could be the most disappointing. Whatever you do, read the book... screamer has never been the same :)
The weather forecast for Sunday, which of course is marathon day, is lookin' hot. It has been unseasonably cool lately, so the temperature change will hopefully not shock the system too much. Seems ironic, after training diligently for 20 weeks, most of them spent wrapped in infinite layers, braving snowstorms with ice-covered pavement being pulled out from under me... only to face the final test in a sauna. No problem though, extra heat will just make it easier to set myself on fire.
On the running front, the mileage is way down this week. Taper time. Did some middle distance speed work on the weekend, just to keep my legs awake, but now the mileage is down to a pedestrian 3-4 miles per outing. Crisp air tonight, the night was strangely quiet. Wore leggings and a longsleeve. Left at dusk, and hit that zone where running is the status quo, where walking seems oddly inefficient and sitting still not an option. Legs had a mind of their own, moving over sidewalk squares memorized months ago. Mind was wandering, but not hovering on anything in particular. Big ideas, small ideas, no ideas at all... not poetry in motion, just motion.
I am completely focused on the 42km on Sunday. The hours spent at work seem painfully still; looking forward to being painfully active in a few short days.
Sounds:
Bill DeRome - Liquid Light. Played this guy on my podcast, and can't get over it. The full album available for free. Life with You and New Years Resolution are stunners.
Pheidippidations - the ultimate podcast
Seventh Standard - Slow Burn... definitely a marathon song.
Eagle*Seagull - Photograph. Arcade Fire + Wolf Parade sound, from Nebraska. can't go wrong.
*NOTE* Marathon playlist is still wide open. Add songs in the comments.
