Shiny Toy Guns
Sometimes, the way things work out is too awesome to put into words. So I will keep this short.
It all started back on the folk singer front. Podsafe'd a track last week, and its been met with great reviews and played on some very cool shows. Should give them props now Cast-On, a knitcast... Podgy's Tokyo Talk - a talk and music show from, obviously, tokyo... and most recently a very cool show from the UK called Things Reunited. Listened to episode 15 of Things Reunited, where they played the new track, and came across a wicked indie band called Shiny Toy Guns. After only hearing one track - Rainy Monday - i bounced to iTunes and purchased the album.
Been listening to it in the last couple hours, and its quite damn good. Interesting mix of indie pop/rock + synth dance vibes. Hmm... maybe the best way to describe is taking the vocals from Creeper Lagoon (for the male vocalist at least), and dropping it on top of a bouncy synth riff from The Sounds. When the female vocals drop... it scales back, to ethereal pop.
